To Map or not to Map, That is the Question...

Ok, so it is January 16,2011 and since making this my New Year's Resolution this is the second post - in regards to my typical resolution, I've actually lost more weight than I've blogged!! CSQRD minus 5 pounds!
So I'm preparing my syllabus for the class I am teaching for Bloomsburg - Curriculum Theory and Design. I was set months ago to use Heidi Hayes Jacobs "21st Century Curriculum", hands down, no questions asked, totally decided...and then! You knew that was coming, didnt you?
Well, now I'm conflicted between HHJ and Kallick&Colosimo's"Using Curriculum and Assessment Data to Improve Student Learning". Problem is, I have to design before Tuesday:(
There are so many angles that would benefit this class and yet, I want for it to be applicable and accessible to the teachers taking the class...
I will keep you posted!

  1. You're making me nervous! I'm starting my Master's in Nursing Education...I know NOTHING about teaching higher level learners (as in, Master's degree students).

They'll love you...you'll make it work!

And, you're gonna be all skinny before Valentine's! ;)

  2. I wonder how you might work it to have half the class read each with you defining the key dimensions of the curriculum to be addressed and them letting each other know how "their" author addressed the topic (or speculating why their author didn't, or extending the explicit thinking of their author to speculate about how that author would address a dimension that the other author considers...)? It might be fun to give it a whirl!
